Senior Professor Pradeep M. Jayaweera assumed duties as the first Dean of the Faculty of Urban and Aquatic Bioresources of University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The Ceremonial Induction of Senior Professor Jayaweera was held on the last 28th of July at the Sagra Building of the Faculty. Honourable Mahasangha, Snr. Prof. Sudantha Liyanage, Vice-chancellor of the Sri Jayewardenepura and Snr Prof Sampath Amarathunaga, Chairmen of University Grant Commission graced the event. In addition, heads of departments, academic, non-academic and administrative staff members participated in the induction ceremony.
Senior Professor Jayaweera got his B.Sc in Chemistry (Special) degree from University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and his Ph.D. from Queen’s University of Belfast, UK. Before being appointed as the new Dean of the Faculty of Urban and Aquatic Bioresources, he was the acting Dean of the same faculty.
